In the future, every household will need a battery to power itself when the sun is not shining. However, a battery alone is not enough. The SMA Sunny Boy Storage 2.5 battery inverter ensures that the power from your solar panel set is converted into the voltage the battery needs to charge, and vice versa. Because the Sunny Boy Storage is connected to the grid, it can be installed in a different room from your PV inverter.

SMA’s battery inverter is compatible with almost all PV inverters. Whether string inverters, micro-inverters or inverters with power optimisers, the Sunny Boy Storage actively limits the amount of power supplied. Communication between the Sunny Boy Storage and the PV plant takes place via the internet. The Sunny Boy Storage communicates with the battery via CAN bus.

NOTE: It is necessary to add an SMA Energy Meter, or an SMA Sunny Home Manager to this installation for the set to work properly. This battery inverter is not suitable for directly connecting solar panels and does not feed back to the grid independently.
