Helukabel SOLARFLEX-X H1Z2Z2-K UV 1×10mm² red – 500m PV cable (1500V DC)
The Helukabel SOLARFLEX-X H1Z2Z2-K UV 1×10mm² red is a heavy-duty PV cable for the DC cabling of solar panels. This is the cable you grab when you don’t fancy voltage drop presents: long distances, higher string currents, larger projects or just “I want to do it right the first time”. This version comes on a 500-metre reel – ideal for installers and larger PV installations.
The red jacket is almost always used in PV installations as the positive (+) DC cable, in combination with a black cable for the minus (-). This makes your installation clearer and reduces the risk of incorrect connection when servicing or expanding.
What do you use 10mm² PV cable for?
- Long DC routes between solar panels/string box and inverter.
- Field arrangements and commercial roofs where cables travel longer routes.
- Pathways with higher currents or where you deliberately want to reduce voltage drop.
- Installations with 1500V DC strings (where allowed and appropriate to inverter design).
Key benefits
- 1500V DC suitable – designed for modern PV systems (H1Z2Z2-K / EN 50618).
- 10mm² tinned copper (class 5) – low resistance, smooth to handle and extra corrosion resistant.
- UV, ozone and weather resistant – suitable for long-term outdoor use on roof and facade.
- Halogen-free & flame-retardant – less smoke and no corrosive gases in case of fire.
- Suitable for direct burial – preferably in pipe/sand bed for extra protection.
- 500m reel – fewer couplings, faster work, neat continuous lengths.

Installation tips (practical and important)
- 1. Use red for plus, black for minus
Keep it logical: red = +, black = –. In addition, always label your strings and cable routes, especially with string boxes and long routes. - 2. Pay attention to voltage drop
10mm² is usually chosen to limit voltage drop. Do you want us to do the math? Send the number of panels per string, inverter type and cable lengths. - 3. No sharp kinks
Observe at least the bend radius (5× outer diameter). Especially with feed-throughs and cable glands: a wide bend is preferable to a sharp kink. - 4. Ground cable? Do it neatly
Direct burial is possible, but we recommend: in a casing with a sand bed and warning tape. This prevents damage when digging and extends the service life. - 5. Use good connectors
Choose good quality MC4-compatible connectors and use the right crimping tools for 10 mm². Poor crimping = heat = misery. - 6. Don’t forget DC protection
Consider proper DC switch/fuses/SPDs according to design and inverter manual. Cable is one part of a safe DC chain.
