Growatt RFID card – charging pass for Growatt charging stations
The Growatt RFID card is a handy “charging pass” for Growatt EV charging stations that support RFID. It lets you decide who is allowed to charge and prevents a random visitor or neighbour from using your electricity. Especially with a charging station on the façade, carport or shared parking space, RFID authorisation is a small addition with great effect.
What do you use a Growatt RFID card for?
- Secure charging station – charging sessions only start when an authorised RFID card is presented.
- Multiple users – give family members, colleagues or tenants each their own card.
- Overview and management – cards are easy to add and (in case of loss) remove/block in the charging station management environment.
- Quick start – no need to open an app; just “swipe” and charge.
Compatibility
This RFID card is intended for Growatt charging stations with built-in RFID reader (e.g. various Growatt THOR charging stations). If you have a Growatt charger without RFID functionality, you cannot use this card.
Tip: Not sure if your charging station supports RFID? Check if there is an option for “RFID”, “Authorisation” or “Access control” in the manual/settings, or send us a picture of the nameplate.
How does it work in practice?
- 1. Add card
Add the RFID card in the charging station management environment (app/portal or local configuration, depending on model). Give the card a name such as “Private”, “Work bus” or “Guest”. - 2. Enable authorisation
Set the charging station to “RFID required” or “Authorised users only”. From then on, charging does not start automatically after plugging in. - 3. Start charging
Plug in the cable and hold the RFID card close to the reader. The charging station accepts the card and starts the charging session.
Why this is useful for Growatt charging stations
- Ideal with an outdoor charging station – you keep control over who is charging.
- Convenient with shared driveway or VvE – multiple cards, multiple users.
- No hassle with phones – start charging without an app, even for guests or employees.
Installation tips
- Keep one card as “master
Handy to always have a card on hand for management or emergencies. - Label your cards
Stick a small sticker or use a key ring label. Especially with multiple cards, this saves confusion. - Lost a card?
Delete or block the card immediately in the charging station’s settings. After that, that card cannot charge again, even if someone finds it.
