Growatt MOD 13KTL3-HU – 3-phase hybrid with integrated backup (13 kW)
Are you looking for a quiet, robust inverter that works effortlessly with an HV battery and continues to feed your most important groups in the event of a power failure? Then the Growatt MOD 13KTL3-HU is the right choice. This HU variant has the backup power supply (EPS) already built in. Fewer loose parts, less cabling, faster completion – exactly what makes installers and residents happy.
What makes the 13KTL3-HU strong in practice?
-
Integrated backup (EPS) – automatically switches over in case of mains failure; ideal for router, lighting, fridge/freezer etc.
-
3-phase 13 kW – suitable for modern households and small business applications.
-
Battery-ready (HV) – seamless coupling with Growatt APX batteries for smart charging/discharging.
-
IP66 & fanless – outdoor placement possible, quiet operation, low maintenance.
-
Smart control & limitation – export-limiting and energy logic combined with a 3-phase Smart Meter.
-
Flexible string design – multiple MPP trackers for separate roof areas (e.g. east/west or shade zone separately).
Design guide (3 minutes clear)
-
Separate strings per MPP tracker
Put different orientations or shade profiles on their own tracker. That way you make the most of the MPP control. -
Target your operating voltage smartly
Aim your strings at the middle of the MPP range. Then the system performs stably in winter (higher voltage) and summer heat. -
Sizing the battery
Choose your APX HV stack based on evening/night consumption and desired backup duration. Choosing slightly wider avoids regrets and unnecessary recharging. -
Smart Meter = must-have
Place the 3-phase energy meter at the grid input and connect to the inverter via RS485. Without a meter, export-limiting and battery control do not work as intended. -
Phase balance & back-up groups
Distribute heavy consumers over the phases. In back-up, deliberately choose your critical groups; include heavy peak users only if (battery) power allows.
Connection & commissioning (brief step-by-step plan)
-
Mounting & cooling – install vertically, keep clear for natural convection, out of direct spray water and full sun.
-
AC side – 3-phase 230/400 V; correct circuit breaker/selectivity, earthing and clear labelling.
-
DC side – strings per tracker; check polarity, insulation value and connector pressings (MC4/H4).
-
Energy counter – insert 3-phase Smart Meter and connect RS485 to the inverter.
-
Configuration – select in the menu: Load first, Battery first or Grid first. Test backup switching and check phase balance.
