The Growatt SPH10000TL3 BH 3-phase hybrid inverter offers the opportunity to take a significant step towards the future. Any electricity generated by the solar panels but not consumed at the time it is generated (immediate self-consumption) can be fed back into the grid, but you could also store it in a home battery! This allows us to use energy generated on a sunny day during the evening hours. This Growatt hybrid inverter is capable of connecting the electricity grid, the solar panels and the battery. The great thing about this hybrid inverter system is that the inverter works perfectly well without a battery. This means you can initially connect only to the grid, and then easily add a Growatt ARK high-voltage home battery in the near future.
Growatt SPH10000TL3 BH 3-phase hybrid inverters are fully-fledged hybrid inverters. They feature a UPS function, which stands for Uninterrupted Power Supply. This means that the inverter can switch almost seamlessly between any emergency power supply and the standard AC connection. This means that, in most cases, a server, for example, will simply remain switched on during a power cut, provided the battery is sufficiently charged to supply power to the emergency power circuit. Please note: If the emergency power supply is in use, NEN regulations require that you are also physically and completely disconnected from the mains, so that you cannot accidentally feed power back into the mains whilst work is being carried out on the cables in the street. To do this, use a 3-phase Automatic Transfer Switch if you are using a standard SPH inverter. If you have an SPH-UP version, always check very carefully that the phase sequence of the meter box – inverter – ATS – emergency power units is correct to avoid causing a short circuit.
To ensure the SPH inverter works properly with a battery, theGrowatt 3-phase smart meter must be connected. This is included as standard in the inverter box. You should install it right at the start of the meter cupboard, so that it can measure all incoming and outgoing energy! This allows the inverter to detect when power is about to be fed back into the grid, and to determine – based on the settings – whether the battery should be charged or discharged.
In the Growatt SPH 3-phase hybrid inverters, different priorities can be set. Switching between these modes can be based on pre-set timetables. It is therefore not an entirely dynamic system based on electricity prices.
- Load first:This mode ensures that the solar power generated is first sent to the appliances in the home. Any surplus power generated is used to charge the battery. Once the battery is full, the remainder is fed back into the grid.
- Battery first:The solar power generated is used first and foremost to charge the battery. Once the battery is fully charged, the remainder is supplied to the household’s appliances. If there is still power left over, it is fed back into the grid.
- Grid first:This setting ensures that all electricity generated is fed directly back into the grid.
The Growatt SPH10000TL3 BH 3-phase hybrid inverter has no mechanical fan or transformer, making it very quiet. In addition, the inverter features two MPP trackers. This means that two ‘strings’ connected in series can be linked, which do not affect each other in the event of, for example, shading. This is ideal if, for example, the lower half of the roof receives sunlight later than the upper half, or if there is shading on only one half of the roof. You can connect up to 10,000 watts peak to this inverter! Whenever you generate more than 10,000 watts, the surplus is capped.
The battery you can connect to this inverter has a maximum DC power of 10,000 watts, an input voltage range of 100 to 550 volts and a maximum continuous input current of 25 amps.
It is easy to monitor using Growatt ShineWiFi-X or a Growatt Shine Link-X. Alternatively, use a Growatt Shine Master (4G)ifyou want to connect multiple SPH single-phase hybrid inverters together.
Growatt offers a 10-year manufacturer’s warranty on its battery inverters.
