Charge Amps Amp Guard Home – dynamic load balancing (0-100A) for home and small business
The Charge Amps Amp Guard Home (Measurement Device – Home) is a smart power monitor that makes your charging station “think along” with the rest of the house.
It continuously measures total consumption and adjusts the available power to the charging station via the Charge Amps Cloud. Result: you charge as quickly as possible, but stay nicely within the limits of your connection. Ideal if you also have a heat pump, induction, sauna or solar panels.
What exactly does Amp Guard Home do?
- Measures total consumption (immediately after the main switch) with current transformers per phase.
- Automatically regulates charge power up/down to prevent overloading.
- Logs data in the Charge Amps Cloud and thus controls load balancing.
- Bi-directional “smart meter” function: also works together with generation such as solar panels or wind (useful for insight and smart control).

Installation tips (saves 90% of failures)
- Placement: mount the module directly after the main switch so that you really measure total consumption.
- Direction of the CTs: pay attention to the arrow on the terminal; it should point towards the house/distributor (direction of current).
- Phase correct = load balancing correct: CT from L1 to L1, L2 to L2, L3 to L3. Wrong = weird readings and wrong control.
- Single-phase installation? Then use only L1 (don’t use L2/L3).
- LAN is most stable: WiFi can be fine, but LAN is often the “set & forget” option.
- Internet is mandatory: without an internet connection, load balancing does not work reliably.
Note with WiFi
- Only 2.4 GHz is supported.
- SSID and password: keep it simple (letters/numbers). Special characters/spaces can cause problems.
For whom is Amp Guard Home ideal?
For anyone who wants hassle-free charging at home (or small business): maximum charging speed within your grid connection, less chance of fuses blowing and more control over your energy consumption.
