Jacob Reducer Ring (reduction ring) for cable glands
The Jacob reducer ring is a high-quality reduction ring with which you can easily reduce an oversized mounting hole or larger thread size to a smaller cable gland size. Ideal for inverters, PV distribution boxes and (outdoor) junction boxes where the hole has already been made, or when you want to reuse existing glands.
Key benefits
- Perfect fit – reduces e.g. M20 → M12, M25 → M12, depending on the type you choose
- Reliable sealing – flat sealing ring (O-ring) to maintain the IP rating of the enclosure.
Selection guide
Always choose on the basis of external thread → internal thread:
- M25 → M12: the hole/thread in the enclosure is M25, you want to fit an M12 gland.
- M20 → M12: the hole/thread is M20, gland M12.
Not sure? Measure the mounting hole (external thread size in the enclosure) and the thread size of your gland. Those two sizes make up your reducer ring.
Technical features
- Thread type: metric ISO (M size), tolerances according to the usual standards.
- Sealing: flat ring/O-ring (usually NBR) for flat sealing against the enclosure.
- Protection: IP rating depending on correct fitting of the ring and gland.
- Compliance: halogen-free, RoHS/REACH compliant (standard for Jacob components).
Fitting tips
- Check that the enclosure thread = the external size of the reducer ring and the gland thread = the internal size.
- Fit the sealing ring on the enclosure side; tighten by hand and then briefly with a torque wrench.
Avoid over-tightening (plastic). - Retain the cable sealing/strain relief of the gland; the reducer ring does not replace it.
Applications
PV inverters, string boxes, micro-inverter distribution boxes, data cabinets, wherever existing holes need to be reduced without replacing the enclosure.
