MC4 EVO 2 Splitter (Stäubli) – set male + female

The Stäubli MC4 EVO 2 splitter set is the reliable way to connect two identical PV strings in parallel with original MC4 quality. The set consists of a male Y-splitter and a female Y-splitter (PV-AZS4-EVO 2-UR & PV-AZB4-EVO 2-UR) and is suitable for 1500 V DC systems with H1Z2Z2-K PV cable 4-6 mm². Compact, low loss, IP68 (mated) and clearly marked “Do not disconnect under load”.

When do you use this splitter?

• Connecting 2 strings in parallel with equal voltage (same number of panels/same type).

• Close to the panels or along the cable route to bring two branches together into one MPP input.

• Do not use it for series connections or to disconnect under load.

Important for design & safety (installer)

• Equal voltage: strings you connect in parallel must have the same open-circuit voltage (Voc) and MPP voltage.

• Current limits: the current = the sum of both strings. Check the max. input current of the inverter/MPPT and the max. module fuse rating.

• Fuses: with more than 2 strings in parallel string fuses are almost always required. With exactly 2 strings: check the permissible “series fuse rating” of the panel (backfeed).

• Cable cross-section: use 4–6 mm² PV cable with the correct MC4 crimping tools; carry out a pull test and mount without torsion.

• Sealing: only mate/unmate when dry and de-energised; make sure connections click fully into place (pull test).

What is different about the EVO 2 MC4 splitter?

The EVO 2 is the newer generation from Stäubli. Compared with the classic MC4 splitter, the locking mechanism has been changed: the connector clicks in more firmly and is better protected against unintentional disconnection. The voltage class is also higher, up to 1500 V, which gives more room for longer strings.

When ordering, pay attention to the cable cross-section. This MC4 splitter is suitable for 4 to 6 mm2 PV cable. Preferably combine original Stäubli connectors with original Stäubli counterparts; mixing brands in a rooftop connection is a well-known cause of burn-through over time.
