SMA Sunny Boy Storage 3.7 battery inverter

In the future every household will need a battery in order to be supplied with power when the sun is not shining. A battery alone, however, is not enough. The SMA Sunny Boy Storage 3.7 battery inverter makes sure that the power from your solar panel set is converted into the voltage that the battery needs in order to charge, and the other way round. Because the Sunny Boy Storage is connected to the electricity grid, it can be installed in a different room than your PV inverter.

The battery inverter from SMA is compatible with virtually all PV inverters. Whether these are string inverters, micro inverters or inverters with power optimisers, the Sunny Boy Storage actively limits the amount of power supplied. Communication between the Sunny Boy Storage and the PV installation takes place via the internet. The Sunny Boy Storage communicates with the battery via CAN bus.

The SMA Sunny Boy Storage 3.7 battery inverter is unique because it can be expanded to up to 3 batteries.

PLEASE NOTE: It is necessary to add an SMA Energy Meter or an SMA Sunny Home Manager to this installation in order for the set to work properly. This battery inverter is not suitable for directly connecting solar panels and does not feed back to the grid on its own.

SMA automatically provides a 5 year manufacturer’s warranty on its battery inverters. If you register the inverter via the Sunny Portal, you receive a 10 year manufacturer’s warranty from SMA.
