In the future, every household will need a battery to supply itself with electricity when the sun is not shining. However, a battery alone is not enough. The SMA Sunny Boy Storage 6.0 battery inverter converts the power from your solar panel set into the voltage the battery needs in order to charge, and vice versa. Because the Sunny Boy Storage is connected to the electricity grid, it can be installed in a different room than your PV inverter.
The battery inverter from SMA is compatible with virtually all PV inverters. Whether these are string inverters, micro inverters or inverters with power optimisers, the Sunny Boy Storage actively limits the amount of power supplied. Communication between the Sunny Boy Storage and the PV installation takes place via the internet. The Sunny Boy Storage communicates with the battery via CAN bus.
The SMA Sunny Boy Storage 6.0 battery inverter is unique because it can be expanded to up to 3 batteries.
PLEASE NOTE: It is necessary to add an SMA Energy Meter or an SMA Sunny Home Manager to this installation in order for the set to work properly. This battery inverter is not suitable for connecting solar panels directly and does not feed back into the grid on its own.
SMA automatically provides a 5-year manufacturer’s warranty on its battery inverters. If you register the inverter via the Sunny Portal, you will receive a 10-year manufacturer’s warranty from SMA.
