The SMA Sunny Highpower PEAK3 is the central string inverter for large-scale PV installations with system voltages up to 1500 V DC. Thanks to its high power density, the SMA Sunny Highpower PEAK3 delivers up to 150 kW of alternating current, while the compact enclosure makes transport easy and installation fast. In addition, the possible DC/AC ratio of up to 150% lets you oversize generously, so you get the maximum yield from your solar panels. There are two variants: the SHP 100-20 with 100 kW and the SHP 150-20 with 150 kW.

Efficient and flexible three-phase technology

Transformerless design with high efficiency

This inverter operates without a transformer and therefore achieves a peak efficiency of 99.1% and a European efficiency of 98.8% on the SHP 150-20. Because the inverter has one MPP tracker with a wide MPP voltage range from 880 V to 1450 V (SHP 150-20), it makes optimal use of your PV array. Furthermore, one or optionally two inputs are available for external PV combiner boxes, so you can lay out the DC cabling flexibly. The unit also offers innovative digital functions that tie into the ennexOS energy management platform, which makes central control straightforward.

Robust design for all weather conditions

IP65 enclosure and active OptiCool cooling

The SMA Sunny Highpower PEAK3 is suitable for indoor and outdoor use and has protection class IP65, so dust and water cannot get into the enclosure. Thanks to the active OptiCool cooling with three speed-controlled fans, the inverter runs stably within an operating temperature range of -25 °C to +60 °C. The unit is also fitted with all-pole residual current monitoring, monitored surge arresters (type II) on both the AC and the DC side and DC reverse polarity protection, so your installation stays well protected.

Installation and mounting in practice

What to watch out for during mounting

• Mount the inverter upright with a maximum backward tilt of 10° on at least two profile rails.
• Keep 500 mm of free space all around and at least 100 mm to an adjacent device for sufficient cooling.
• Tighten the screws of the mounting bracket (M8x105) to 12 Nm ± 2 Nm.
• Tighten the DC connection to 24 Nm ± 2 Nm and the AC terminals to 20 Nm (50-95 mm²) up to 30 Nm (120-150 mm²).
• Do not close the enclosure lid and do not open the inverter at an ambient temperature below -5 °C, so that the seal is not damaged.

For central commissioning and monitoring, use the SMA Data Manager M EDMM-20; for consumption metering via Speedwire, the inverter can be combined with the SMA Energy Meter. When mounting, follow the manufacturer’s official installation manual and the applicable regulations.
