The SolarEdge SPD Plug-in (SE-RS485-SPD3-B-K4) is a surge protection device developed specifically for the RS485 communication lines of SolarEdge 3-phase inverters with SetApp configuration. This plug-in protects up to two RS485 buses against electrical spikes such as lightning strikes, ensuring reliable and stable monitoring of your solar energy system.

Smart protection, simple installation

Plug-and-play on the existing RS485 connections

The SPD Plug-in is fitted directly onto the RS485 terminal block inside the inverter — you do not have to re-run the existing RS485 wiring. This makes this protection ideal to add to existing installations as well. The module supports a 1-pair + Shielded configuration with a nominal line voltage of 12 V and a maximum load current of 300 mA.

Robust and reliable in Dutch weather conditions

High discharge capacity and wide temperature range

With a nominal discharge current (In) of 5 kA, a maximum discharge current (Imax) of 15 kA and a protection level (Up) of only 70 V, this SPD withstands the heavy surge peaks that are typical of thunderstorms. The operating range of -40 °C to +85 °C and the IP65 protection (inside the inverter) make it highly suitable for the Dutch climate. Complies with IEC 61643-21 / EN 61643-21.
