Stäubli Test Pin MC4-EVO 2 (PV-EVO-PST) – Pin-lock Check
What exactly does this tool do?
-
Confirms whether the locking spring (lock) of the MC4-EVO 2 has properly gripped the contact pin.
-
Prevents faults caused by incompletely inserted or loose pins.
-
Works on cable and coupling connectors of the MC4-EVO 2 type (4–6 mm²).
How to use it (installer)
-
Always work de-energised and never mate/unmate under load.
-
Connector unloaded (preferably disconnected from the mating plug).
-
Insert the test pin into the test opening of the MC4-EVO 2 up to the mechanical stop.
-
Result
-
You feel a clear stop and the pin does not slide in further → the pin is locked.
-
It slides too far inwards or you feel no firm stop → the pin is not locked → open the connector, insert/crimp the pin correctly (again) and check once more.
-
-
After checking, fully close/screw the connector shut and do a quick pull test on the cable.
Important
-
For MC4-EVO 2 only, not suitable for older “classic” MC4s.
-
This is not a test probe; it is not intended for voltage/polarity.
-
Do not use it to disconnect; “Do not disconnect under load.”
