FlatFix Fusion: the Esdec flat roof system
FlatFix Fusion is the system Esdec uses to build up flat roof installations. Instead of drilling through the roof covering, the structure stands free on the roof and is held in place with ballast. That keeps the waterproof layer intact, which is the big advantage on bitumen and EPDM.
This set is put together for 4 panels in landscape, in a single row. The wind deflectors at the rear guide the wind over the array instead of letting it catch underneath; that saves considerably on the ballast weight required.
Before you start
- Ballast is not included. You source paving slabs or concrete slabs locally; the ballast holders are part of the set.
- Protective rubbers. Place these under the support points so the Esdec flat roof structure does not damage the roof covering.
- Edge distance. Keep a distance from the roof edge; wind uplift is greatest there.
- Load-bearing capacity. Check that the roof can take the extra weight of the structure plus ballast.
