SolarEdge Power Optimizer P601 (P601-4RM4MBN)
The SolarEdge P601 is a powerful module optimiser for panels up to approx. 600 W.
Ideal when you work with higher panel outputs or want to design shorter strings on
residential and small commercial roofs. You get module-level MPPT for maximum kWh, plus SafeDC™:
when the system is switched off, the voltage per optimiser automatically drops to ~1 V for extra safety.

Design & compatibility
- Inverters: SolarEdge residential inverters with P-series support.
- String rules: minimum/maximum string length according to the layout plan and inverter type; always check this in SolarEdge Designer.
- Mixing: preferably within the same P series. Only mix P- and S-series in one string where this is explicitly permitted and after checking the output voltage and the rules. According to the compatibility matrix it may be combined in 1 string with P404, P405, P485, P505 and S500b power optimizers.
Installation tips
- Mounting – fasten the optimiser to the rail or module frame with a single bolt; keep ventilation space under the panel clear.
- Connectors – push the MC4 home until it fully “clicks” and carry out a pull test; measure polarity and insulation resistance.
- Cabling – respect the bending radius; route the longer positive lead tightly along the frame to the next module.
- Commissioning – follow the SolarEdge procedure; map the modules and check the SafeDC behaviour and string values before start-up.
When do you choose the P601?
- You use high-power panels (up to ~600 W) or bifacial modules.
- You want shorter strings on small or segmented roof surfaces. Use at least 6 of these P601 power optimizers in 1 string of your single-phase SolarEdge inverter, or at least 14 for your three-phase SolarEdge inverter.
- You are looking for module-level monitoring, mismatch reduction and SafeDC™ without any hassle.
