Solar water heaters

Solar panels generate electricity, which helps to reduce your electricity bill. However, this does not cover your gas consumption, which is also a major energy guzzler!

Solar water heater kits use vacuum collector tubes to convert sunlight directly into hot water. This water is stored in a boiler so that it can be used later for showering, or, for example, to pre-heat water for the washing machine (which indirectly saves electricity too!). If you install a kit that provides both domestic hot water and central heating support, the hot water can also be channelled through underfloor heating, for example.

The RVO currently offers a substantial subsidy towards the purchase of a solar water heater kit. If, upon request, you can show the RVO photos or videos of a working system, you can call yourself a qualified installer!
